School History

School

  • Our school was built in 1963. We are situated at the base of the Croghan Hill in Co. Offaly right in the heart of Ireland.


  • We are not the only school thats been in Croghan.There were many before our school.


  • There was a hedge school in Coole run by Mr. Burke who was a small farmer during the penal laws.


  • In August 1835 a school opened in Cannakill. Mr. Dunne was the first teacher there.


  • Mr. Fennesey's old house was once a school too. It became a teacher's residence and was knocked down recently.


  • The local community centre was a school too.
