Recession
The recession has hit Ireland badly. People are saying that we are near the end of the recession. I personally am not sure. Our Taoiseach, Brian Cowen, is trying his best. We all need to work together to help our country.
Celtic Tiger: Going, Going, Gone Over A Year Ago
Just over a year ago people were swimming in money, building mansions and always wanting bigger! The recession came and took it all away. Now people can hardly even drive down the road. Let us hope the tiger starts roaring again.
Our extension
In 2007 work began on our new extension. Tyrrell Builders from Edenderry did the work. Third and fourth class had been in a prefab. The first part of the new building to be done was the Infant classroom. When the Infants moved in the prefab was taken away because it was in the way. Third and fourth moved into the old Infant room and the rest of the extension was built.
In the new building there is a staffroom and a computer room. There are 16 computers. We got a new gym as well as two bathrooms. You can see pictures of our school before and after on our homepage
We are all delighted with our new extension.

Golf in Ireland
Golf in Ireland has been very sucessful over the years. Players like Paul Mcginley and Darren Clark have played in the Ryder Cup numorous times in the past. The most sucessful player in the history of Irish is the three time major winner Padraig Harrington. The youth in Ireland is also going well with players comng through like Rory McElroy and Clara local Shane Lowry. Also the ladies in Ireland have been doing well with the two young Maguire twins playing on the junior Ryder and Solheim Cup teams.
Tullamore Show
I went to the Tullamore Show. There were up to 50,000 people there. There were traffic jams. We were stuck for hours. There were cars, animals, trucks and machinery on display and for sale. Everything was for sale there from dvds to toys, cds, radios and clothing. The dog show was class. Dogs passed through obstacles. There were dogs in clothes which was weird. There were trucks with cranes on them. Getting home was easy. Other people took ages. It took us five minutes to get out because we went before the end of the Tullamore Show 2009.
Croghan TD's
Croghan had a local TD once. His name was Nicholas Egan. He was a TD from 1956-1965.Tony Gregory a TD who died this year had relations in Croghan. He was born in 1947. He was elected in 1982 and was a part of Dublin County Council from 1974-2004. Tony Gregory died at the age of 61.

Fleadh Ceoil
The fleadh ceol was held in Tullamore for the last three years. Its a thing where people from all different places come to listen and play irish music and dance. Its on for at least a week. There were thousands and thousands of people there. One of the songs that was played when I was there was the Sawdocters "Joyce Country Ceilidh Band". People were singing and dancing, mostly out on the streets. It rained a lot but that didn't really stop anyone from listening to the music. The best thing is everyone enjoyed themselves.
